Abstract:
With the implantation of the Higher Education Area (HEA), teaching professionals are faced with new educational challenges. Presently, new educational action methodologies must be applied in order to be able to transmit knowledge, skills, and values. These new teaching and learning methodologies will enable the development of new professional abilities in the learners so that they can face a social reality that is increasingly more plural and complex. They will be more competent in their future professions, which in some cases will involve working with the most unprotected and vulnerable sectors in in society, and will make them capable of transforming those social realities through social intervention.

This article discusses how to introduce the terms resilience, empowerment, and preventative education to the teaching and learning process. This new subject area tries to search for new theoretic methodologies and intervention tools in social action, starting with the curricular concepts raised, to respond to the new current social realities.

These new educational methodologies in the HEA are going to favor the formation of future socially competent professionals who will develop consciousness of social responsibility, responsibility of identity and professional commitments, and who will be capable of making decisions and finding and establishing new solutions to future social problems. These new teaching strategies aim to create a better future, building better-qualified professionals who are professionally productive.

Ultimately, the concept of resilience is highly used in the application of Social Sciences. For professionals who work in teaching to implement a teaching method from this perspective allows a different vision of facts, of social problems, of needs...it allows us to offer and unravel in the learners new alternatives of intervention, of solving social problems, new forms of respect, of power, of establishing new goals...

This new teaching methodology based on Preventative Education supposes a new dynamic and interactive methodology, where the student is going to be the protagonist, and where concepts and practical cases are going to be discussed and questioned from different perspectives, in order to facilitate the building of new solution models for social cases and problems. This will in turn encourage learning factors in the student and in Preventative Education, which is going to help them in the future putting new personal and professional abilities in force to develop projects of integration and insertion in the current society.

To bring in the term resilience, empowerment based on Preventative Education according to the educational goal of the HEA will require intervening with a new comprehensive methodology adapted to actual social needs. This introduction to resilience in teaching methodology will at least be a new facilitator in the formation of new professionals, helping them favor personal and professional maturity (developing new professional attitudes, new personal and professional values, improving the management of social resources, preventing new psychosocial risks...). They definitely will contribute to personal as well as professional development with comprehensive character.
