Abstract:
Since the Internet was incorporated in our routine, a parallel quarrel - in uneven conditions - by our students was established in the classrooms. Besides teaching and educating, we were impelled to control the access of our students to sites and social networks. And, we shall confess, it's in an inglorious task, because how can we compete against so many links, so many pictures and so many stimulus? What if, however, the answer were: we should, in fact, encourage the students to use the Internet and, why not, the Facebook in our classrooms? What do you think?.

In this presentation, we will be focusing on three aspects regarding the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) its texts. At first, we will analyse the pedagogical relevance of the virtual texts in classroom, considering the teaching and learning issues. Then, we will discuss the communicative aspects of it, guaranteeing the texts to exposed beyond the walls of the school. Finally, we will discuss the aspects of a collaborative writing in a individualist world.

Methodology: Based on Paulo Freire' s conception of literacy and technology (2000), considering the technology a tool for raising a critical awareness on students about their social condition and responsibilities. The presentation will be based on the analysis of Brazilian Student's texts and also on critical discussion regarding the use of ICT in an International School.

Results: This presentation will show ICT as powerful tool for raising awareness on students social condition and responsibility. Also, the result of this presentation
will show that the use of social medias may be a powerful tool to teach students about textual genders and their implications.
