Abstract:
This article brings to discussion the issue of population aging, pointing a fact that carries serious concern to society. The society, governments, family and even the elderly persons do not have the proper training which facilitates the proper handling for such situation. One of the challenges to be faced by the elderly concerns the free time after retirement process, either by breaking the routine of life years, it is the process of gradual desocialization which inexorably occurs, and especially the challenge of developing a significant leisure time able to occupy the free time with sense. For many elderly; free time, which could be a positive thing, becomes a problem and activity leads to passivity. Investing in education for the elderly can be one of the appropriate responses since, besides allowing the intellectual enrichment of the elderly, still set up as a potential tool to support cognitive development, relevant aspects of quality of life. Therefore, an understanding of the importance and implications of leisure in the life of the elderly, is a matter of vital importance, therefore, to educate towards leisure time is to educate for life and education may be a response that combines innovative, healthy, successful aging , productivity, quality of life and meaning to live.
