Abstract:
The emergence of information and communication technology (ICT) enriched learning in many ways. The enhanced accessibility and repeated utilization of the cumulated knowledge of the society contributed to high spread of know-how. Nowadays the information is accessible to everyone at any time and everywhere through the Internet available almost anywhere due to dense telecommunication and computer networks. Thus technology and software impacts the life-long acquisition of knowledge by enhancing the learning process with innovative processes and establishing new ways of teaching and learning. The internalization phase of learning process can be exploited by repeated use of acquired knowledge through virtual and augmented reality (AR). Augmented reality combines the real world with dynamics and interactivity in education making the learning process more attractive. With the sinking prices of cutting edge technology, the application of AR in employee education became accessible for a wide range of business organizations. It enables dynamic forms of learning by creating artefacts in virtual environment projected into physical reality with activities triggered by learner’s interaction. This paper aims to analyze the current state of AR applications in education of employees in various economy sectors in the Slovak Republic through a survey conducted in various businesses. The questionnaire analyzes the use of augmented reality in education of employees in participating companies. It also examines the attributes of traditional educational practices and education using augmented reality from the point of view of the trainees. The study outlines those aspects that are appreciated by the trainees that may be incorporated in a future employee education, not only using augmented reality.
