Abstract:
The adoption of a game-based approach in higher education has been a topic of discussion among scholars for years, yet its integration into course structures remains limited. This study explores the use of a game-based approach to teach change management competences in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Kaunas University of Technology. The research investigates the effectiveness of this approach in providing students with meaningful learning experiences and developing core competences. Findings indicate that while the game-based approach holds promise, its successful implementation requires careful planning and alignment with course learning outcomes. Teachers must ensure that the games created facilitate deep discussions and reflections on competence development, rather than merely engaging students in gameplay. Additionally, questions arising from game improvement efforts can contribute to a better understanding of the methodology itself. This research underscores the importance of thoughtful integration and assessment of game-based approaches to teaching change management competences in higher education.
