Abstract:
The advent of the Information Technology, Telecommunications and the Electronics revolution has ushered in an era of expectations for the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in terms of technological innovations and challenges. Today, C-DAC, an autonomous scientific society under DeitY (Department of Electronics & Information Technology), MCIT (Ministry of Communications and Information Technology), Government of India established in 1988 to explore India’s supercomputing capabilities has emerged as a multi-disciplinary, core research and development (R&D) destination for the design, development and deployment of advanced IT products and technologies. C-DAC is now focused in establishment of CoEICT (Centre of Excellence in Information & Communication Technology) in emerging regions at national & international level for knowledge exchanges in research & developments of computing & innovations in science and engineering. The CoEICT will provide a framework to substantially improve, leading to increased external funding, publications and prominence for researchers, as well as attracting an improved pool of student and faculty. Students in a variety of disciplines will conduct cutting edge, publishable research in various domains related to science and technology.
