Abstract:
Self-awareness is a necessary skill that is not easily obtained. In case of emergency, even people who knows how to handle the situation with a proper behavior, sometimes they cannot perform well enough. It is because of the limited time, distorted information and lack of information. As a result, people often make a decision emotionally. To avoid these incidents, we design a learning process to motivate learners to realize how to be an emotional and a rational person. The learning process take advantage of a Microworld to simulate outcomes of human decision-making in emergency situation according to the model designed for educational purpose. Learner can modify parameters, estimate expected outcomes and compare observed outcomes with their expected ones. Finally they can make hypotheses to explain why expected and observed outcomes are different. With this approach, we expect learners to cultivate their self-awareness during emergency situation.
