Abstract:
The concept of innovation is closely related to increasing economic growth. Technology and innovation are among the main driving forces leading to prosperity in knowledge and technology-based economy, as well as achieving sustainable development on a massive scale. At the heart of economic growth is the ability to create knowledge that translates into real economic output.
This determines the growing importance of scientific research and innovation for the prosperity and sustainable development of any economy. An important element in the entire cycle of improvement is to clarify the transition and the realization of the transfer of knowledge between scientific institutions and users.
They are two mutually complementary two sides of the process, on the one hand, the producers of knowledge (universities and research institutes), are driven by the needs of the users of knowledge (business organizations). The purpose of this study is to make (1) an analysis of the state of the research and development activity of higher education institutions in Bulgaria, (2) the progress of the processes related to the entire system of creation of knowledge and technologies and (3) to describe and present information related to research universities and their role.
Science has been among the main priorities of every government in Bulgaria in recent years. It can be noted that cooperation between universities, scientific organizations, and industry has not yet been successfully achieved. Achieving good results is linked to activity along several priority axes, including R&D and technology, the link between business and education, social communication, lifelong learning, and infrastructure improvement. Keywords:
