Abstract:
This article focuses on the use of virtual reality (VR) as a new tool for teaching occupational safety and health (OSH). VR offers a new dimension for teaching OSH, where students can experience a variety of situations that would otherwise be dangerous or costly to implement in the real world. This article provides an overview of the use of VR for teaching OSH and includes the advantages and disadvantages of this technology. The results show that VR can be an effective way to teach OSH and that further research should be done to explore how this technology can be integrated into existing teaching programs. The aim of this paper is to provide readers with a more detailed overview of how VR can be successfully used in occupational health and safety. Other objectives of the article will include a discussion of what the opportunities and challenges are when implementing VR technology into a real work environment. The potential costs and benefits for organisations that choose to implement technologies such as VR into routine practice will also be discussed. The article will provide an information resource for those interested in the use of VR technology in OSH education and wishing to learn more about its benefits, limitations and practical applications. In writing the article on the use of virtual reality in OSH education, I will consider a number of different methodologies and approaches that can be used for the development and implementation of VR training for OSH such as: scenario-based learning, gamification, adaptive learning. The paper will also publish statistics on student satisfaction with the use of virtual reality in the classroom.
