Abstract:
This paper refers to international actions taken during the Erasmus+ Changes program by the Polish and Italian teams applied to archaeological sites in Cyprus and Poland. The program's major focus is on disseminating the archaeological research results from past explorations of coastal landscapes affected by climate change. During these activities, the teams shared unique experiences from the archaeological coastal areas of Southern Cyprus and Northern Poland. The primary research results concentrated on obtaining data for landscape and environmental analyses, and the teams exchanged methods used to describe the past of both coastal locations. The tools employed in archaeological practices are similar, but their application varies depending on specific environmental characteristics. These differences refer to the ability to use specific non-invasive prospection methods in underwater research and field surveys. Exchanging experiences generated new concepts for the frameworks of climate change research in both locations. Furthermore, field workshops for students were conducted in Cyprus and Poland, providing an excellent opportunity to develop professional skills and knowledge in an international context. All Erasmus+ actions undertaken in the field are followed by the dissemination of data within the local communities of both locations. These actions aim to raise awareness of climate change resulting from scientific research. Educational initiatives are also necessary for designing plans for heritage protection against the risks stemming from landscape degradation processes.
