MOTIVATION TO LANGUAGE TRAINING

Abstract:
Following article deals with language training within the Ministry of Defence resort of the Czech Republic and motivation which follows. The article and research, which results are part of it, are based on the fact that currently, more than half of the officers of the Ministry of Defence resort of the Czech Republic does not fulfill language requirement which is one of the attributes of systemized places to which they are placed. The resort offers enough possibilities for language training although the required result has not been fulfilled yet. It is important to focus on soldiers themselves and their will to learn foreign languages, especially English.
The term "motivation" comes from the word "movere" which means move, instigate, arose, influence. Motivation factors can be characterized as stimulating determinants which stimulate a person to act. Considering this characterization, motivation plays a significant role in language training and language requirements fulfilling. The research, done with respondents of chosen organization units of the Ministry of Defence resort of the Czech Republic, will answer if the officers are motivated to the language training or not and by whom and how they are motivated. Almost seventy respondents participated on the research, it was in the form of semi structured interview and it was evaluated by the narrative method.Keywords:
