Abstract:
The future of Mexico and the world falls on the new generations who will assume the responsibility of taking care of the Earth. For this reason, it is imperative to promote a culture of environmental awareness from an early age. In this context, aviation has been selected as an effective means of promoting this awareness, due to its ability to capture the interest of children and teach them to protect the environment in a dynamic way.

The objective of this project is to introduce and reinforce concepts related to aviation and the environment among primary school age children. Aviation, being a topic of great interest to children, serves as an effective channel to cultivate and develop their interest in environmental preservation.

For the execution of this project, children between 8 and 11 years old, corresponding to primary school in Mexico, are selected. This choice is based on the importance of positively influencing their cognitive development and values from an early age. Through exposure to images, maps and teaching materials, the aim was for children to form a first concept of what aviation is. Subsequently, through recreational and dynamic activities, both group and individual, the aim is for children to remodel and deepen their understanding of aviation and caring for planet Earth.

This study addressed the relationship between aviation and the environment, focusing on the impact that the aviation industry has on it, such as CO2 emissions and water, noise, and soil pollution. It is vital that the aviation industry takes steps to mitigate these impacts.

The study is in its second stage, the continuation of the first study that was carried out on children between 4 and 6 years old, now on children between 8 and 11 years old, applying and promoting environmental awareness and aeronautics through education in order to promote sustainability.

It is expected that the results of this study will encourage the creation and development of concepts about aviation and environmental care among children, and that they, in turn, replicate the activities learned with their friends and family to expand the dissemination of environmental care. The interest generated in children is projected as the basis for the training of future professionals in areas such as piloting, engineering, and aeronautical technical personnel, who will incorporate sustainability in their professional and social practice, highlighting the crucial role that children play in the future of the planet.
