Abstract:
COVID19 pandemic has affected all the sectors of our society, being education sector one of the most influenced. Before pandemic, university has performed traditional lessons in a presential way, whereas during the actual pandemic, lessons have been suddenly moved to the virtual form. During these months professors have had to adapt their classes to this modality. It is well-known that communication is composed by tone of voice, spoken words and body language. Body language is the most important part that has been sacrificed in the virtual lessons affecting the relationship professor-student and hence diminishing the motivation of the students during the lessons. This paper analyses a case study on a numerous class of university students in the second year of Architecture degree at Politecnico di Milano (Italy). It is showed a tailor-made virtual classroom structure focused on keeping university students motivated during online classes. To this purpose, explanations are combined with activities to promote the interaction between professor and students and hence, dynamizing the lesson. A customized online lesson revealed to be very useful for students, which resulted more motivated, participatory and involved in the lesson.
