Abstract:
Teacher training in the current context, affected by the traces left by the Covid 19 pandemic, involves enhancing the development of digital competencies of teachers for their application in teaching-learning processes. It is therefore important to seek pedagogical alternatives to promote the development of digital competencies of university students who are preparing to become professionals in teaching. Therefore, this study proposed as a research aim, to analyze which digital teaching competencies can be developed from an educational intervention based on educational robotics resources. This research used a pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test measures of a single group with the involvement of 55 participants who were teachers in training. In the educational intervention, the Project Based Learning methodology was used for the participants to make educational digital robotics resources with a STEAM approach and to analyze the development of digital competencies, the competency areas declared in the European Framework for Digital Competencies in Education (DigCompEdu) were used. The results showed that the educational intervention effectively improved the digital competencies of the areas analyzed with the trainee teachers. In terms of conclusions, it is considered that the choice of educational robotics as a tool to improve teachers' digital competencies, demonstrates that emerging technologies, such as robotics, can be effective educational resources. The implementation of the Project Based Learning methodology and the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) approach in educational intervention, suggests that the use of innovative and multidisciplinary technologies can be beneficial for the development of digital skills. As a recommendation, it is considered that the inclusion of the STEAM approach in educational intervention highlights the importance of multidisciplinary issues in this regard, it is suggested to encourage the integration of various disciplines in teacher training to prepare educators with a more holistic perspective and adapted to the current and future demands of the educational field.
