Abstract:
In order to contribute to the improvement of the praxeology of a professor of the discipline numerical calculus at technological institutes in Brazil, the purpose of this work is to investigate the learning practices and the evolution of the discipline due to technological advances. The study is carried out for the specific topic "curve fitting and interpolation methods". In this study, two methodological strategies were analysed; one based on teaching in a traditional way and the other on teaching using a computational and experimental development environment.

The research carried out shows that the use of computational and experimental tools accompanied by an adequate planning of the tasks proposed to the students promote the improvement of the students' learning in this discipline. The studies were applied to a class of 20 undergraduate students in Mathematics, from the 4th year, at the Federal Institute of Education of Pará in Brazil. The analysed data were collected through episodes of multimodal narrations of the classes and the quantitative analysis of tests applied to students during the course of teaching the topic "curve fitting and interpolation methods".
