TEACHING PRACTICE IN ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING MANAGEMENT AND BUSINESS GRADE: TEACHING EXPERIENCE AND BENEFITS FOR THE STUDENT'S CURRICULUM

Abstract:
The introduction of new degrees in the Spanish educational system has meant moving from a content-based teaching-centered education to develop skills and abilities. This requires, especially in the social sciences degrees of business, increased use of tools and applications applied to the overall management of a company. This is achieved by moving the student from the theoretical to the practical dynamics which they will face in the labor market and professional life.

This paper highlights the key benefits for students of the Degree of Business Administration and the teaching, but especially practice of the various Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) with those who have to interact on completion of their studies.

These applications include aspects such as management with customers, suppliers, employees and the design of the value chain of the company and the use of new technologies to improve the business organization. In particular, state the teaching experience with students at the University of Alcalá (UAH) in the management of integrated management tool SAP-R3, whose use is widespread among large firms.

The aim of this paper is to analyze what are the benefits that learning these systems provides the curriculum of business administration students. On the other hand, the paper also examines the problems detected by students in their learning process applying different ERP, such as difficulties for lack of other management background.

The hypotheses being verified are: 1. Students evaluate positively applying business management tools throughout their studies, beyond the theoretical, 2: Students apply and recognize in ERP other theoretical contents developed in subjects of the degree, such as accounting, finance, human resources, etc..

The sample chosen for the study are the students of business administration degree in Business Administration Faculty, University of Alcala de Henares (Madrid). Specifically, the sample size corresponds with 52 students studying their third year of degree.

The method chosen for the study was to design a questionnaire. The data collection will be through a survey during one of the practical classes. The data will be statistically analyzed, using descriptive and multivariate analysis. The analysis conducted will propose measures to improve the subject learning process facing to teaching and pedagogical issues and the development of recommendations for implementation in other social science degrees and universities.
