Abstract:
In the last few years, the increasing number of mobile devices and mobile application has facilitated information access and created new forms of interaction by users. This scenario has motivated the creation and distribution of mobile applications in large scale. Education mobile applications represent powerful tools to improve education quality and satisfaction by students. They also allow teachers to better assess students’ progress and manage activities, exercises and grades. However, usability issues still are prevalent and may impact on students learning. For this reason, software industry has incorporated user-centered procedures on the development process, such as usability evaluations and user-centered design. Education Hub is an education mobile application that aims not only to assist on students learning but also to connect students, teachers and individuals involved in education environment. This paper reports a practical case study of usability inspection of Education Hub. The result of this study was important to identify usability issues and improve the mobile application user interface design and learnability aspects.
