Abstract:
The systematic review of the literature is considered a scientific method of research and analysis of articles in a particular area of science. In this paper we present the Roadmap of a systematic review of the literature, on the theme The identity of Psychology. This systematization precedes a survey of the reality in Portugal, through interviews with Portuguese psychologists.

This research stems from questions and reflections about the recognition of the role of psychological intervention in today's societies. Given the great development of psychological science, as well as the emergence of a wide range of associated activities, the need to understand the role of psychologist and psychological intervention becomes relevant. These considerations have referred the authors of this work to a reflection on the professional identity of the psychologist in the present and, consequently, on the identity of Psychology itself.

For this reason, the main objective of the present investigation is to deepen and understand the phenomena associated with the professional identity of psychologists, specifically to obtain the answer to the central research question: What is the fundamental and exclusive objective of psychological intervention, distinguishing it from any other intervention? The following are secondary objectives of this study: to analyze how psychologists define themselves and are defined by other professionals and the public in general; identify the difficulties that psychologists have in their attributions; identify how psychologists interpret and describe their functions.

The data that compose the present systematic review of the literature result from the extraction of the following databases of bibliographical references: Scopus; Web of Science; American Psychological Association- APA; PsycNet;; Scientific Electronic Library Online - SciELO; Electronic Periodicals in Psychology - Pepsic; CAPES; and the Virtual Library: Online Knowledge Library - B-on.

The tasks constituting the three main phases in the development of this Roadmap, namely the Initiation, Processing and Exit phase, are presented and flagged. The tasks of the following steps are mapped:
1) identification of the need to carry out a systematic review of the literature on The selected theme;
2) preparation of a proposal for the systematic review and development of the draft revision;
3) selection of databases, descriptors and studies to be included in the proposal;
4) selection of studies;
5) preparation of the first consensus meeting among researchers;
6) evaluation of study quality;
7) organization of the data to be included in the research;
8) extraction of the data and synthesis of the data obtained;
9) final report, recommendations and transfer of evidence to practice.

It is made the systematization of the flowchart constituent axes, as well as the systematization of words frequency maps, presented at the selected studies abstracts.
