Abstract:
The Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is one of the world health priorities, and HIV vertical transmission is the main route of HIV infection in children. There is a 0.41% prevalence of HIV infection in pregnant women in Brazil, with an estimated 12,456 newborns exposed to the virus each year. In this context, recognizing the importance of preventive care and HIV vertical transmission knowledge of pregnant and postpartum women is key for reducing this statistics. This methodological study aimed at developing an educational booklet to be used in health care to guide educational strategies for this target population. The built booklet was entitled "How to prevent HIV transmission from mother to child? Get inside!", addressing preventive care to avoid vertical transmission during prenatal, childbirth and postpartum periods. The construction process consisted of two phases; the first of them was an integrative review, with searches in scientific platforms using national and international databases and publications of the Brazilian Ministry of Health. The later stage was the preparation of the booklet, based on the results of the literature survey. Clear and succinct texts were written taking into account the accessible language. Subsequently, one consult expert created friendly drawings and figures, easy to understand and consistent with the cultural context of the target readers.

The content covered in the booklet was organized into sections with the following headings:
1.Presentation,
2. What HIV is,
3. How to find out if you have HIV,
4. How HIV is transmitted from mother to child;
5. Prenatal care to prevent vertical HIV transmission;
6. Care at delivery to prevent vertical HIV transmission;
7. Care after the child's birth for prevention of vertical HIV transmission;
8. Closing remarks.

The presentation aimed to contextualize the booklets topics, friendly explain what HIV vertical transmission is in a simple language and present the nurse figure, as one of the characters of the booklet. We attempted to further inform the customers the benefits they will have from reading the material. Throughout the booklet, self-explanatory information to the target readers was encouraged, improving the knowledge. The booklet ends with the claim - "Let's all embrace the fight against HIV transmission! Spread this idea!". At the end of the construction process, the booklet consisted of 28 pages. This technology may be a valuable tool for conducting participation and dialogued educational activities, targeting pregnant and postpartum HIV-positive women towards the prevention of HIV vertical transmission.
