Abstract:
The advent of new technologies involves the modernization of teaching strategies, among which we can mention the Distance Education. In this regard, education in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) has assumed a growing importance in the training of nurses, which requires the implementation of attractive, efficient and up-to-date methods in order to develop in students competencies for nursing practice and the dissemination of knowledge in this area. A virtual learning environment can turn out to be a tool of productive support to convey information and provide contact of students with different educational technologies. The purpose of this paper is to report a training experience of Multipliers in SRH, given to nursing students of a private college in Brazil, under e-learning, applied to the teaching of SRH. Participants were 20 students who received modular training prior to specific distance education in order to become familiar with the digital platform, exploring the tools and guidelines for the management of autonomous activities. Two other modules discussed general concepts of sexuality and human reproduction and sexually transmitted infections. The proposed activities presupposed the use of tools such as discussion forums, chats and portfolios for the uploads of the reports and surveys implemented. Qualitative and quantitative assessments were conducted of the learning performed, as well as the use of platform features and the methodology itself. It was found that all participants were approved with satisfactory concepts in that course. The utilization of the resources of the virtual platform proved heterogeneous, because despite the initial modular training in distance education, some difficulties were experienced in the use of tools. Currently some students participating in this course work in the development of educational content and become multipliers in SRH, performing follow tutorial other nursing students. The training of trainers in SRH, and conveyed under-learning is feasible, confirming the importance of distance education as a strategy for teaching and learning very positive and versatile. However, for a better success of this application, it is necessary to prepare appropriate multimedia resources, a preliminary approach on the methodology of e-learning and performance constant tutorship in order to drive the pace of activities and stimulate interaction and active participation of students.
