Abstract:
Introduction:
The cinema is a space for learning and analyzing the different social, family, economic, health issues ... In addition to a playful and recreational function, cinema can be conceived as a resource for training, through which students can complement and even contrast the knowledge acquired in the theoretical classes and also develop cross-cutting skills, such as the fact of working as a team. The aim of this work was to design a pedagogical proposal for the use of cinema as a didactic resource in the subject of Public Health and Community Physiotherapy.
Methods:
We proceeded to the design and implementation of the collaborative learning methodology Film Forum. This methodology was applied within the framework of the practical part of the subject Public Health and Community Physiotherapy. A total of 60 students participated who were divided into groups of 4 or 5 people. Each group had to look for a film related to the topic a public health issue. The selection of the theme was based on the interests of the students themselves. The students had to visualize the film at home and extract those fragments that were related to the contents of the theoretical classes. Each group presented to the rest of the students fragments of the film that contrasted with the theoretical contents of the subject. After the visualization, a moderate debate was held by the faculty to carry out a critical analysis of the proposed topics.
Results:
This summary presents the collaborative methodology Film Forum, for the study of aspects related to Community Physiotherapy and Public Health. In the first session, the students were divided into groups; each group chose a theoretical topic that would be the central theme of the film. Some of the proposed topics were: "Situation of people with functional diversity in our society", related to block II of the subject: attention to risk groups; "Problematic of communicable diseases and risks of contagion" related to block III, in which theoretical concepts are developed such as: transmissible disease, prophylaxis; "Health System of Health: differences and similarities", related to the first block in which the concepts of health are analyzed: primary care, health disease, public health... On a weekly basis, film forum sessions were held and finally, once all the students exhibited their film, an questionnaire was carried out to collect the sociodemographic characteristics of the sample (age, sex and access to the university) and ad hoc questionnaire was also developed to assess the degree of satisfaction (scale type liker) of the satisfaction and motivation of the students in relation to the teaching methodology. Among others, the students were asked questions such as: Cine-Forum helps to improve the understanding of theoretical aspects, Cine Forum promotes teamwork, Film Forum methodology has allowed me to acquire values that can improve me as a student and as a person (commitment, respect, tolerance) The student had to mark between options 1 (totally disagree) or 5 (totally agree).
Conclusion:
The current educational lines establish that the university professor must ensure that students value learning, obtain critical thinking and also be able to transfer the knowledge learned to other situations and contexts. The cinema can be a tool that helps teachers to reach new educational goals. Keywords:
