Abstract:
This paper presents the findings of an innovative teaching project titled "Juegos (fiscales) Reunidos" ("United (tax) Game"), implemented in taxation courses at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC). The project aimed to enhance students' comprehension of Spanish tax systems through gamification—a pedagogical approach that incorporates game-design elements to increase engagement and learning. The study's outcomes were promising, demonstrating that the gamified activities significantly improved both hard and soft skills among students. The activities were well-received, with most evaluations scoring above 4 out of 5, reflecting the successful integration of gamification into the curriculum. The paper highlights that the effectiveness of the gamified activities is closely tied to the professor's ability to introduce and manage them proficiently. These findings contribute to the discourse on innovative teaching practices and provide a replicable model for implementing similar strategies in other academic disciplines.
