Abstract:
In direct connection with the accreditation of higher education institutions in the Slovak Republic, the creation of internal quality assurance systems based on respecting the principles of openness, accessibility, equality and justice in the activities of higher education institutions has become a necessary condition. The University of Žilina (UNIZA) is based on the long-term intention of the university, including the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) plan, which forms a strategic framework.
The paper deals with the definition of indicators that express their level of implementation of DEI plans at a selected university within Slovakia.
The assessment is based on the results of primary research aimed at identifying the possibilities of expressing the level of DEI and its quantification. Statistical analysis of data that the university is already currently monitoring and that are publicly available is used. To determine the level of DEI implementation, indicators focused on the structure of students are used, i.e. the demographic composition in terms of gender and nationality, as well as the graduation rate in relation to the demographic composition. Furthermore, from the perspective of employees, it monitors the representation of women in the university's governing bodies and in individual university teaching positions, including differences in salary evaluation of employees in the same job positions. It is also very important to determine emotional inclusion, which can be quantified through anonymous surveys of the work climate or the fluctuation rate. In terms of expressing overall diversity, multi-criteria analysis is used. In the area of supporting students with specific needs, the university achieves a 75% satisfaction rate, with barrier-free workplaces, counseling and individual study adjustments as key advantages. Based on the results of the analysis, activities are proposed that can contribute to increasing the perception of the level of fulfillment of the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion at the university. Keywords:
