Abstract:
The issue of gender equality resonates in various areas of social life. The presented contribution is dedicated to the analysis of current gender equality policies at universities in Slovakia. Among other things it points to gender debates, the national political framework, the role of the church, but also regulation and EU funding. The historical and political context makes it possible to understand the current situation in the field of gender equality. The main goal is to identify the factors that had and have an impact on the promotion of gender equality policies, especially on the creation and promotion of the adoption of gender equality strategies and plans at universities, as well as the analysis of selected gender equality policies. It is still a topical topic for both academics and practitioners. Empirical research brings interesting knowledge regarding the reasons and overall framework for adopting plans at universities, as well as their depth of processing, determination of areas, goals and activities included in the plans of selected universities.
