Abstract:
The paper deals with the results of a survey of the degree of cooperation, factors and barriers affecting the cooperation of university teachers and researchers with the business sector from the point of view of strategic management of the university. The results make it possible to identify whether and to what extent university employees have accepted the entrepreneurial mission of the university. In relation to the identified objectives, primary quantitative research was carried out through an electronic survey. When testing the statistical hypotheses established as part of the primary research, we applied the statistical method of testing the hypothesis about the share of the statistical characteristic. The evaluation of the research shows that when initiating cooperation with the business sector, academics prevail over companies or graduates. The state either never initiates cooperation, or only sometimes. The existence of mutual trust is considered a factor that greatly facilitates the respondents' cooperation with businesses, and at the same time, it is perceived as the most motivating factor for cooperation. Among the most significant barriers to the cooperation of teachers and researchers with the business sector are financial barriers and the bureaucracy associated with the cooperation itself. Apart from them, however, the barriers associated with "the insufficient amount of working time dedicated by the university for cooperation" are also not negligible. Up to 57% of respondents from those who have cooperated in the past or are currently cooperating with the business sector perceive this barrier as having an advanced to high degree of importance, and similarly, they perceive the barrier of "insufficient information of companies about the university's research activities" as having an advanced to high degree of importance.
