Abstract:

The transfer of knowledge and the protection of intellectual property of universities, colleges and research institutes is currently a highly topical topic discussed at many professional forums, presented in the media, and incorporated into every current project. The aim of the contribution is to present a proposal for a comprehensive support solution in intellectual property protection processes at the university, from informational support, legal support to the proposal of procedures for managing the intellectual property process. The basis for the investigation of the theoretical starting points relevant to the processing of the topic were professional literature dealing with the issue of knowledge transfer and intellectual property protection and studies from the subject area. A significant part of the materials used is the legislation of the Slovak Republic in the field of intellectual property management, as well as related foreign legislation, information materials of national and international intellectual property offices and internal guidelines of foreign universities in the field of intellectual property management published on the WIPO website. The proposed information system of intellectual property registration at the university deals with the support of tactical and operational management processes, where many tasks are standardized. Like most management information systems, this one has limited analytical capabilities and uses pre-prepared models/forms of data presentation.
