Abstract:
The paper discusses the seemingly shared knowledge system and educational services across Asian countries. Adherents of the cross-border education or transnational education in higher learning, particularly Southeast Asian region, considered this as a special topic both for internationalization initiatives, research joint ventures and academic collaborations. Specifically, the proponent of this paper provides in-depth analysis and comprehensive review of approaches and strategies that are operationalized in the new landscape of transnational education in the light of the Philippine Higher Education Institutions’ experiences whereby past experiences (few historical facts during the Spanish regime to Commonwealth period), current issues and challenges in meeting the increasing requirements of cross-border education will be the core concerns of this paper. The paper completes the needed analysis and reflections by providing recommendations on how to make the education brand of a developing country attractive to international students.
