Abstract:
The current profile of the university degree show, ahead of their inclusion in the labor market, a lack of skills and expertise that significantly impede the start of his career, requiring, in almost all cases, a postgraduate training period of two or three years.

According to the Report Higher (Higher Education and Graduate Employment in Europe: European Graduate Survey), which examines the employment situation of university graduates, four years after completing their studies, in various countries (including Spain), Spanish graduates have "low practical training, lack of instrumental knowledge and skills, little training in oral and written expression".

This situation, although it is applicable to the generality of current university degrees, is more evident in the case of the graduates in law. Access to professions that require a high knowledge of the law (judge, prosecutor, lawyer) necessarily require additional training of a practical nature that mitigates the shortcomings of the college. In this sense, the new structure of European Higher Education Area aims to resolve this situation, preparing future graduates to understand, analyze and solve everyday problems arising from professional practice, improve their communication skills and provide them with the skills to practice of law.

This paper aims to analyze the advantages and obstacles for law graduates entering to the job market and, therefore, determine the competencies and skills to be acquired by graduates in law to pursue their profession, both in Spain and in the other countries of the European Higher Education Area.
