Abstract:
Nowadays there is increasingly acknowledged the fact that there is a need of international university cooperation in research activity and research projects. In this context, the debate regarding the ways by which to support the research activity has involved to a greater extent the private and public authorities that have responsibilities in research area. All actors are playing an essential role in managing this change, at local, regional, national and European level. This study investigates the management practices for achieving excellence in research. The paper provides a detailed evaluation of management practices for international university cooperation in research, using evidence from Romania. Firstly, within the literature review section, the paper discloses the main developments in the field of research management, as well as the ways of supporting the research activity at the European level. Secondly, the paper analyzes the management practices for international university cooperation in research, using evidence from Romania. Moreover, the practical ways by which the research activity is supported in Romania are emphasized. The research was carried out by using evidence provided by reports, policy documents, literature reviews and articles. The findings of this study may be helpful for further studies in the area of international cooperation in research, so as to identify new ways of supporting research activity, developing it, and changing management practices.
