Abstract:
Technical Vocational Secondary Education in Chile has a number of longstanding problems that, among other aspects, affect the quality of education that is provided to students.

Although the current educational reform considers defining a specific policy for this mode, with a definition that is in progress, questions such as if in addition to the structural problems, the considerations will be extensive to the field of management and how could this contribute to quality assurance processes such educational organization arise.

This concern led to the initiative of implementing the ISO 9001:2008 in a technical vocational secondary school in Chile, which has been conducted throughout 2015.

This article is part of a broader research that seeks to describe the experience of implementing ISO 9001, of the external team, consultants and management team and school officials. It is framed in a case study from a qualitative and descriptive approach. To this end, semi-structured interviews and focus groups were conducted.

Preliminary results of the study are expected to contribute to a better understanding of the problem of implementing the ISO Standard in technical and vocational secondary schools, and at the same time, generating information for future endeavors in their implementation in educational organizations in the sector.
