Abstract:
Many types of technology are being employed in schools these days. Some are being used according to established educational pedagogy, while in other cases the use of technology is more experimental. Some of it is marketed by retailers. None of this is a criticism, because technology in education is still a relatively new phenomenon. As yet, it is too soon for long term studies.

It is sometimes assumed that young people naturally embrace this trend. They are often referred to as "digital natives" because they grew up using technology from a young age. However, they are not necessarily adept at all types of technology. Moreover, some students prefer to keep their technology for their own use.

In an effort to ascertain what the students think, students of several universities were surveyed. Students were asked what they liked and disliked about various types of technology in the classroom. This included technology used by students and teachers. They were also asked about their opinions of traditional methods of education, that is, all paper and pencil, blackboards or whiteboards, lectures, etc.

This presentation will highlight the students' attitudes towards various methods of instruction. It is hoped that the information will assist educators in designing effective educational systems whether remaining all traditional, blending traditional with technology, or going all tech.
