Abstract:
In this paper we show the objectives, method and results obtained, so far, in the Teaching Innovation Project (date: December 2008-September 2009), entitled Guide of Electronic Resources as a help for learning in subjects on Cultural Heritage Conservation in Higher Education (Code number 08-168) funded by the Vice-rectorate for Quality Guarantee, of the University of Granada, in the call for innovation projects aids 2008.
This project, involving teachers, students, trainees and administration staff of the Department of Painting (Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Granada) coordinated by F. J. Collado-Montero, is in line for other innovation projects initiated by the University of Granada, to develop and improve learning and teaching methods in subjects on Cultural Heritage Conservation.
In this case, our goal is to develop a guide or catalogue of electronic resources (especially Internet addresses) relating to the discipline of Conservation as an easy and accessible tool for the students in their learning, with a thematic organization of content based on the curricula of Conservation subjects of the Department of Painting at the University of Granada.
In this way, we want to enhace the academic and professional self-learning of the students, in the way the subjects teaching programmes foresee, according to the European Space for Higher Education.
Objectives:
- To help the learning of specific contents and skills in different subjects on Cultural Heritage Conservation studied in Fine Arts Graduate and History of the Art Graduate.
- To develop a user-friendly tool where information is sorted by topics.
- To spread the electronic information obtained through digital storage formats, teaching platforms or teaching webs for Conservation subjects.
- To encourage the students self-learning though group activities, and to encourage their decision-making capacity through self-evaluation virtual exercises.
Method:
- Planning of tasks scheduled by the team members, with the participation of students belonging to the subjects involved in the project.
- Search, find and preset available electronic resources: web sites, blogs, pictures and videos online, electronic publications, etc., related to the programs of Cultural Heritage Conservation subjects. This task has involved students organized in small working groups (of about 4 members) under the guidance of teachers of the project.
- Development of new electronic resources, primarily through the digital documentation of the practical exercises carried out by students in the various subjects involved.
- Review and final selection of resources by the project team.
- Exposure, in the classroom, of a selection of the digital documentation provided by students.
- Writing and compiling the data for digital editing.
- Issue of a CD / DVD with the electronic resources guide developed, including the data in online teaching platforms, for online use by University members.
- Internal and external project evaluation by the team members, the Department of Painting and the students.
Now, we are reviewing and selecting the localized resources to include in the database which will form part of a CD (edition planned for an early date). It is also our intention to include such content on a website for the subject to make it available to the students.
In general, the project results have been adjusted to the objectives set.
