Abstract:
The article is a study based on the European-funded project, under the Erasmus+ Programme TIK, Tradition & Innovation @ Kindergarden, carried out in four European countries by six partners: Italy (Pixel, Ufficio Scolastico Regionale of Tuscany Region), Lithuania (eMundus), Romania (EuroEd Foundation), and Spain (Ayuntamiento de Guadassuar, Xano Channel Asociación para el desarrollo comunitario). The TIK European project aims to improve pre-school children’s basic and transversal competences through the use of traditional tales in order to ensure a good start in their education. The article focuses on the objectives and methodology of the project and its main outputs. The article also reviews several multidisciplinary and holistic pedagogical approaches used in early education with a view to enhancing children’s interest in learning and preparing them for more active and student-centered learning approaches. It also gives insights into the use of traditional tales as a means to raise children’s awareness and extend their knowledge about their local areas and cultural heritage.
