Abstract:
The article is a study of the Apprentice Preparation Training– APT project, KA2 Strategic Partnership, ref. no 2016-1-UK01-KA202-024558, funded by Erasmus+, a European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport. The article introduces the project’s main objectives, activities and outputs deeply rooted in the European context. Considering the project’s main aim, that is linking education to the world of world and ensuring young people’s smooth transition from school to employment the article gives insights into the steps made so far in the development of the project: the analysis of the needs of the main target groups (young people and employers) in each partner country, the best practices identified and the new skills required by employers, often neglected by schools and representing the changing face of the labour market and the demands of a contemporary and flexible workforce. The toolkit of the necessary resources to assist the smooth transition for young people from education to employment stems from these findings. The article focuses on the main strands of the kit aimed at specific target audiences (careers advisors and educators, young people, employers and parents). Keywords:
