Abstract:

In this new age of technology and digital assignments, how do we manage the “paper trail” of work that goes between teachers and students? Showbie is an app which seamlessly facilitates the exchange of materials between students and their instructors. It is a platform by which students turn in assignments in a variety of possible formats, including PDF, Word, Pages, Excel, Numbers, photos, screenshots, audio recordings, and more. Teachers can annotate the work, add written comments, or even attach voice notes for each student. Showbie is an indispensable tool in moving towards the paperless classroom.

One of the main benefits of this app is that students have their own individual folders within a shared class, and have unlimited capacity for uploading files. In addition to this, students are unable to view each other’s work, thus ensuring complete privacy. Amazingly, this powerful tool is a free app which can also be accessed via the internet.

This session aims to give participants an overview of Showbie, and showcase how it is used in a classroom situation. We will look at how to assign work, how students complete and submit their tasks, and how instructors can mark the assignments and provide individual feedback.
