Abstract:
To better prepare students for the skills required for future jobs, we developed a new curriculum for Robotics. The Robotek Curriculum promotes the development of the students' 21st Century Learning Skills: Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, and Collaboration through problem-based learning framework that best prepare them for the demands of the future learning and working environment.

The Robotek Program is designed to ensure that learning in Robotics is a student-driven process. The program targets student’s different competencies to ensure holistic development. Seven Robotics Competencies are targeted: Systematic Designer, Strategic Navigator, Innovative Assembler, Knowledge Integrator, Computational Thinker, Data Analyzer, and Reliable Teamer.

This paper details the curriculum framework and elements. Sample learning activities and target competencies at different grade levels are discussed. Required resources, including laboratory and teacher training are also discussed. Appropriate evaluation and assessment methods are also discussed.

The paper also discusses experience in implementing the curriculum in several schools in the Philippines. Local and a national robotics competition were held to drive interest in the program and to promote creativity and excellence.
