Abstract:

Can chemistry and theater be mixed?
Yes it can be, indeed we did it and the final reaction became a fantastic and incredible result:
“El Teatro es pura Química, la Química es puro Teatro”
Theater is pure Chemistry, Chemistry is pure Theater, is essentially an academic activity that seeks two goals: first, that the authors/actors face the challenge of motivating a group of youngsters (16-18 years old) to study chemistry, and second, to analyze the most basic chemical concepts. The latter in order to find that metaphor, or unexpected or surprising situation, that allows them to approach to chemistry in a different but amusing way.
On the other hand the project allows university students in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy or Mathematics to discover their role as actors and awaken any potential as future teachers.
The project has been awarded with the 2010 Educational Innovation Award of the “Premios del Consell Social-Universitat de València”.
