Abstract:
This paper proposes the methodology of Service-Learning (SL) as an appropriate tool to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the educational context. The nature of SL is intrinsic to SDG 4 and 17. The Department of Medicine has developed three consecutive SL projects in clinical neurology subject, involving 7 of the 17 SDG. The aim of the work is to analyze and compare the SDG of the SL projects of the Department of Medicine with the SDG in Spain, and in the future to be able to design projects adjusted to those SDG that urgently need to be improved in Spain. The results have shown that the situation in Spain, in 2019, regarding the achievement of SDG shows that it stands out in SDG 6 and 7, and must improve in SDG: 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 15 and 16. On the other hand, the SL projects of the Department of Medicine work mainly on SDG 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 11 and 17. Therefore, in the future, new projects should be designed to include SDG 5 (Gender equality), 9 (Industry innovation and infrastructure), 15 (Life of terrestrial ecosystems) and 16 (Peace, justice and solid institutions) as these are the ones in which Spain needs to advance most urgently.
