Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to examine the experiences and opinions of pre-service teachers regarding the use of artificial intelligence applications in education. The participants consist of 49 pre-service teachers who attended the "Information Technologies in Education" course, studying in the “Computer Education and Instructional Technologies” department of a state university in the 2023-2024 Fall Semester. During one week of the course, various artificial intelligence applications that could be used in education were discussed with the participants. Following this, an activity was organized for pre-service teachers to be divided into 10 groups of 4 or 5 people and prepare a research-based e-learning material using artificial intelligence applications.

The pre-service teachers were given one week to prepare e-learning materials, and these materials were presented during the subsequent week's class time. Following the presentations, groups conducted self- and peer-assessments, semi-structured focus group interviews were conducted, and written reflection reports were collected. The collected data were analyzed using the Maxqda 2018 program through content analysis.

In this process, pre-service teachers used various chatbots during the research process. They prepared e-learning materials as infographics, videos, and presentations using various artificial intelligence applications. In the process of creating this e-learning material, they additionally used artificial intelligence applications for audio and visual creation and editing purposes.

It has been revealed that pre-service teachers find these technologies useful in the integration of artificial intelligence applications into education, facilitating their activities and making them more creative designers.
