Abstract:
Learning a foreign language involves the development of oral and written communication skills, as well as the development of intercultural communication skills. In order for this competence to be optimally developed, the didactic process requires reading as a relevant method for creating coherent expression skills in the Romanian language adapted to the communication process. The readings of foreign students must be accessible, without complex stylistic registers, containing words from the fundamental vocabulary that they can use, later, in the communication process. The supporting texts must be carefully chosen so that they relate to the areas of interest for learners. The reading develops, therefore, the lexicon that students will use in the future when they study in Romanian, but also outlines an adequate pronunciation of words, as well as the disambiguation of the meanings of words in various contexts. The present paper aims to illustrate methods by which the mentioned competencies are optimally developed, but also supporting texts or semantic fields relevant for the linguistic acquisitions necessary for daily, professional and intercultural communication.
