Folklore has been created by people from centuries to centuries. It shows the history of the nation. Learning, researching its own folklore we understand our roots and our culture. And when we research folklore of other peoples we learn their culture and history. It is a very good source of education, bringing up. We can get success if we combine traditional methods of teaching and using folk teaching methods which proved its effectiveness by many generations. In this article it has been researched the pedagogical potential of folklore in teaching foreign languages. Folklore has enormous moral ethics values and it is one of the best tools for developing foreign language skills, broaden mind and developing research activities of students. Different kinds of folklore arts can be used successfully in developing various speaking skills. Myths help us to develop speaking skills. Nursery rhymes improve students’ pronunciation. Sayings help to make students’ speaking vivid, emotional and rich. Learning and researching proverbs in comparative way students develop their logics and enlarge their knowledge in history. Many folklore arts are the valuable source for learning languages.
