The primary objective of this article is to analyse the knowledge of students - the group regarded as the future, main users of these systems, the basic concept and practical applications of the so-called Internet of Things (IoT). The research was carried out with the use of a computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method. The survey designed for this purpose was first verified with the help of experts in the field of modern information technologies, and subsequently, it was made available to students on the servers of the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw. The following structure of the article was adopted: after a short introduction and a review of the literature output, the authors presented the assumptions of the conducted research, described the research method, and then they carried out an analysis and discussion of the obtained findings and have drawn conclusions concerning the awareness of the degree of possibility to utilise the IT developments and their current applications among the individuals who are likely to be using it in the nearest future.
