Abstract:
The aim was to justify the concept and structure of applied military and sporting competence and to analyze its dynamics in the process of improvement of applied military and physical training of students.

3rd-4th-year male students (n=152) taking complementary course at the military training faculty in South Ural State University were recruited as volunteers to participate in the study. The level of formedness of applied military and sporting competence was assessed. It was established that the introduced complex of organizational and educational conditions contributed to positive changes in the level of formedness of the competence under consideration.

Based on the results of the study, the viability of the concept of applied military and sporting competence is justified. The stated competence of students taking a course at the military training faculty in classic university includes the following structural elements: cognitive, functional-adaptive (activity-related), sporting (motivational and value-related), and personal-psychological components as well as personal attitude to students’ military activity. The improvement of the stated competence requires and active and effective interaction between human subject of higher professional education, which, in its turn, should be based on sportization of physical education.
