Abstract:
The authors of this paper, proposes a design of an algorithmic approach for fetching related web contents automatically for an e-Learning system based on instructional objectives. The authors use fuzzy technique to relate instructional objectives to web contents. In the present era of Internet Technology majority of the information are available over the web. Hence the availability of information has increased. Recently e-learning has shown the new path of learning where content developers or instructors can create courses using various authoring tools and upload them in available Learning Management System (LMS). A web resource that is freely available in the Internet and can be legally reused by others reduces the effort of e-content development. It may not be necessary to develop a whole e-learning course again. This may be possibly be implemented if we develop the web content based on Instructional Objectives as learning chunks.
This paper proposes a design of a system which fetches the web contents for any particular instructional objective. Fuzzy technique is used to rank the web contents based on their relevance. This proposed technique works in three phases. In the first phase, a modified crawler program runs and fetches links of related web contents from the web and writes them into a file. In the second phase, each link of web content is further explored to find the extent of occurrence of related key words in that page. In the third phase, the output of second phase is passed through a fuzzy function to rank the pages according to their relevance.
The whole process works automatically and will complete mainly in these following steps. At first, system retrieves the keywords of instructional objectives from the file/table. After that, system fetches the relevant web contents from the web. Then, system Generates a rank list of web contents based on occurrence of keywords. After that, system prioritized the web contents by using fuzzy membership function utilizing the page rank. At the last step, Generation of forms for showing results on screen.
Goal of this research work is to enhance the re usability and interoperability aspects of e-contents. Our proposed work helps content developer / instructor to aggregate e-content based on course curriculum. It reduces the effort of content development by reusing the existing legally available resources. Our proposed system automatically finds related web resources for particular instructional objectives or any particular task related to an e-content from the web. Keywords:
