Abstract:
Nowadays with the incorporation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into the teaching and learning processes in higher education, the instructional design models and educational contents have been strengthened and have contributed to the diversification of learning modalities, access to education for all and lifelong learning.
In this regard and taking in account that since the early 80’s the teaching of architecture underwent a significant change with the use of new digital tools for graphic expression and computer-aided design, it can be stated that the use of this tools led to the approach and the every day use of computers and new technologies not only for the teaching and learning processes, but also for the professional practice.
Furthermore, considering that Systems of Learning Management (LMS) are currently used for a better administration, monitoring and evaluation of the educational processes, it can be ensured that the use of such system also generates the opportunity to strengthen the process of student-teacher interaction through the diverse tools of ICT that are incorporated into that system.
In that sense, the objective of this paper is to present the development and results of the experience of use the Blackboard LMS applied the teaching and learning process of one of the elective subject of Architectural, bioclimatic and landscape workshop design II (ABLWD-II) that is taught in the Architecture Master Program of the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC).
The presentation is structured in four sections, the first is concerning to the introduction and general background, the second present the description of the teaching and learning process developed at the ABLWD-II, the third describes the process of monitoring, evaluation and course administration, and the fourth section present the results obtained.
