Abstract:
In this paper, we will try to prove by theory and practise the reality of using new technologies (ICT) to teach English in the Algerian school. First, we will open the widows of the relation between English and other concepts like modernity, context and culture. Furthermore, before we will close definitely those doors, we elaborate the system of the Algerian secondary schools as an introduction to what will come next. The following pages are devoted to a recent case study in Mascara secondary schools to detect the truth of the English learning classes of that city. Actually, the survey is accompanied with a valid statistics revealing the controversy and the question marks. The importance of English is constantly increasing, because of the great number of English speakers communities through out the whole globe. Indeed, we can mention the English of the main well-known countries like the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia …etc, in addition to other countries where English is considered as a second language. Furthermore, the rest of the countries introduced English in education as a foreign language. Algeria is among those countries. “English is increasingly being used as a tool for interaction among non-native speakers. Well over one half of the billion English speakers of the world learned English as a second or foreign language. Most English language teachers across the globe are non-native English speakers.(Brown, 2001:118) in the heads of every one and having a direct relationship with the educational system concerning the English language teaching or learning.
