Abstract:
The use of active teaching methodologies in the classroom encourages and facilitates student learning, as well as increases their interest and attention. One of these methodologies is gamification, which uses the elements and dynamics of games to motivate and engage students, making it more interactive, participatory, and enjoyable.
This article shows how gamification was applied in the Complementary Training subject inside the Teacher Training Master at a Spanish university using the "escape room" teaching resource. The article shows the process of creating several escape rooms, the stories developed, the activities students must complete, and the results of their implementation.
The results obtained with the use of the gamification teaching methodology were positive. All students agreed that the use of the "escape room" teaching resource in the classroom helped them to establish the content of each of the different sessions and thus be better prepared for the final exam. Ninety-nine percent of the students successfully passed the course, achieving the learning outcomes established in the course's curriculum design. Keywords:
