Abstract:
Project Based Learning (PBL) is a learning methodology in which students work actively, and design, implement and evaluate processes that have application in the real world beyond the classroom.
PBL can be used so that students, in addition to acquiring the competencies and skills of the subject, become aware of the different interrelated global challenges that humanity must face, and the need to achieve sustainable development. However, there are few real examples of the use of PBL with sustainability criteria in university teaching.
To help to solve this problem, this paper shows the findings of a project carried out to apply the Project Based Learning methodology with sustainability criteria into a university subject. The subject is called Information Systems in Public Administrations, and it is taught in the Bachelor's Degree in Public Management and Administration. The objective of this subject is to train future public managers in the management of information and communication technology projects for improving public organizations business processes, as well as in the use of computer technologies for data analysis and decision making. The work presented here could be taken as the basis for future improvements in other university subjects, that wants to use education as a tool for sustainability achievement. Keywords:
