Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to compare social skills and emotional quotient of elementary students’ experimental group with those of control group, and to study satisfaction towards STEM teaching and learning model for enhancing social skills and emotional quotient.
The samples of this research were 50 students of fifth grade classes from Srinakharinwirot University Prasarnmit Demonstration School (elementary) obtained from simple random. 25 students were selected by simple random into experimental group and another 25 students into control group. The trial lasted 6 weeks and each week students spent 3 hours.
The instruments for data collection consisted of 1) STEM teaching and learning lesson plan in subject of Voice, Buoyant force, and Friction enhancing social skills and emotional quotient, 2) Social skills evaluation form with the overall confidence of .93, and 3) Emotional quotient evaluation form with the overall confidence of .81, and 4) Satisfaction evaluation form with the overall confidence of .71.
This research employed experimental design in the format of randomized control- Group Pretest Posttest Design. The statistics used in this study was an independent Sample-T test.
The research findings revealed that:
1) social skills and emotional quotient of elementary students’ experimental group increased at statistically significant level .01,
2) social skills and emotional quotient of elementary students’ experimental group were different from those of the control group at statistically significant level .01,
3) The satisfaction towards STEM teaching and learning model for enhancing social skills and emotional quotient was at high level which indicated that STEM teaching and learning model could enhance social skills and emotional quotient effectively. Keywords:
