Abstract:
With the rapid development of technology and globalization nowadays, human life has started to change expeditiously. As a result of that change, individuals were left no choice but to develop better, be much more efficient and work harder. Additionally, the ability of humans to compete among themselves and their competitiveness traits have become crucial. Especially in today’s education systems, it is considered important to raise individuals in a way that they all have the characteristic of competitiveness, thus; they include many activities which are designed to make individuals have that competitive characteristic in the educational environment. By this way, it is foreseen that individuals with competitive attitudes are going to be more successful and sufficient than others as well as being able to make a significant contribution to the society. Therefore, individuals are supported to have competitive attitudes by education systems. However, the underachievement and misconducting of the efforts to bring individuals competitive attitudes in educational environments might lead negative behaviours to increase. In addition, disregarding individuals’ developmental characteristics in education systems, making inadequate efforts to improve peer relationships, focusing on examination in education systems, considering academic achievement as the only criterion in individuals’ developments, and taking every kind of effort made in the competition environment naturally can cause extreme competition in education systems. As a result of that intense and over-competition, making individuals have the intended development and behaviours becomes difficult. In this research, within the framework of these educational implications, competitive attitudes in youths is being described and being supported by the literature research findings.
